UW-Rock County Presents 2009 Outstanding Alumni Award to Evansville Teacher

Janesville –UW-Rock County presented the 2009 Outstanding Alumni Award to Beth Oswald of Milton.
After earning her associate degree at UW-Rock County, Oswald went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Beloit College and a Master of Education degree from UW-La Crosse. She has been a history teacher at J.C. McKenna Middle School in Evansville since 1996 and is currently working on a doctoral degree.
Oswald is the recipient of many awards for her exceptional teaching style. In 2004, she was selected as Leader of the Year from the Wisconsin Association of Student Councils, the highest honor given to a state student council advisor. She was selected as a Kohl Teacher Fellow and the Wisconsin Middle School Teacher of the Year in 2007. In earning such honors, she was cited for her ability to “hook” her students into learning, her leadership in creating integrated subject units and her spearheading of service learning projects. In 2008, she represented the state in the National Teacher of the Year program in Washington, D.C.
