UW-Rock County to Host Earth Day Celebration
JANESVILLE – The UW-Rock County student environmental club, the G.R.E.E.N. Scene, will host its fourth annual Earth Day Celebration on Wednesday, April 22, on the UW-Rock County campus at 2909 Kellogg Ave from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This free event will focus on the theme of “Reduce and Simplify.”
The festival kicks off at 10 a.m. with a hands-on presentation on prairie restoration by Robert McCallister, UW-Rock County associate professor of geography and geology. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. more than 20 earth-friendly exhibitors will be on hand including non-profit agencies, green businesses, recycling information and drop-off sites for small electronic devices and old running shoes. A naturalistic horsemanship presentation with DeeDee Goldberg and a live raptor presentation from Hoo’s Woods will be featured. Food and beverages will be available while supplies last beginning at 11:45 a.m. and guitarist Jake Stottler will perform from noon to 1 p.m.
