UW-Rock County Foundation Presents Alumni Awareness Award
Janesville – Gregory Linder of Janesville was selected as the recipient of the April 2009 Alumni Awareness Award presented by the UW-Rock County Foundation.
Linder, the site manager with Air Products in Milton, first became a student at UW-Rock County in 1975. He spent two years on campus before transferring to UW-Madison where he received a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. He returned several years later to UW-Whitewater to complete his Master’s in Business Administration.
While at UW-Rock County, Linder enrolled in several science courses on campus, including chemistry courses taught by Lloyd Goding, emeritus professor of chemistry, and Martin Stabb, who was an assistant professor of chemistry before his retirement. “My professors made learning fun and prepared me for continuing my coursework toward a degree in chemical engineering,” says Linder, citing such activities as “Mad Scientist Day” as an example of how hard work could still be fun.
Linder is no stranger to the community, currently serving on the YMCA board of directors and president of the Milton Area Chamber of Commerce.
The Alumni Awareness Award was created to honor UW-Rock County alumni or former students who are recognized for their expertise and good works. These notable people must have attended UW-Rock County for at least one year, completed a higher education degree and distinguished themselves through achievements and service or contributions to Rock County, where they live and work.
To nominate someone for an Alumni Awareness Award, contact the UW-Rock County Foundation at (608) 758-6628.
