UW-Rock County Helps Students Prepare for ACT Exam
Janesville -- The ACT college entrance exam is an important step for high school students before applying to college and now they can prepare for this test at UW-Rock County. The next session of ACT Strategies, a series of classes that includes a diagnostic test, a practice essay, test-taking strategies and timed drills, will be held on the campus at 2909 Kellogg Ave. beginning January 17.
The session includes five classes that are strategically timed to help students right before taking the ACT exam on February 7. The first class on Saturday, January 17, meets from 8 a.m. to noon, followed by classes on Saturday, January 31, from 8 a.m. to noon; Tuesday, February 3, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday, February 4, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.; and Thursday, February 5, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Other sessions will begin in March and May for future test dates.
Students taking ACT Strategies in the last two years have increased their score by an average of 3.5 points from pretest to the actual ACT exam, according to Stacy Randall, continuing education director and coordinator of the program.
The fee for the strategies course is $134. Enrollment is limited, so early registration is recommended. To register or for more information, contact UW-Rock County at (608) 758-6565 ext. 360. Students must register for the ACT test separately by contacting www.actstudent.org or their high school guidance office.
