Message:
Teaching Philosophy: As Associate Professor of Spanish at UWC-Rock County, my commitment in the area of teaching is to provide excellent instruction of the Spanish language and a comprehensive understanding and appreciation of Hispanic culture and society. I also strive to make a difference in the lives of my students, helping them discover the joys of learning about other peoples and cultures. As I believe that students learn best when they are involved and feel a responsibility towards their own learning, I implement the Communicative Approach in my language courses. This approach has been proven to be one of the most effective methods in the teaching of languages. In implementing the Communicative Approach, I apply the following basic principles in my language courses: "Students learn by doing," "Language learning is learning to communicate," "Communicative Competence is the desired goal," and "Learning is enhanced when it is enjoyable." As a result of my implementing this method, my students develop better languages skills and show a sustained interest in the language.
