Courses
UW-Rock County’s existing curriculum offers the general education courses necessary to prepare for an engineering degree. Consult the UW-Colleges Catalog for more detailed course information. A complete pre-engineering curriculum is available, even for those students looking to transfer to another UW System campus after several semesters of preparation. Professional engineers can also enroll for continuing education in order to maintain licensure.
Those looking to complete an entire bachelor degree from the Janesville campus will take general education and pre-engineering courses with UW-Rock, as well as Electrical and Mechanical major courses through UW-Platteville. See our self-help tools page for checklists and flow charts that show which courses come from what school, and when you are eligible to take those courses.
The Electrical Engineering major includes 7 core courses, plus 6 courses within specialized emphasis areas – Communications/Electronics, Computers, Controls, and Power/Energy. This totals 51 credits of EE major coursework.
Mechanical Engineering offers 15 core courses, plus 3 elective course choices that extend theory and lab skills in Design, Fluids, Heat Transfer, Materials, and Mechanics/Controls. This totals 49 credits of ME major coursework.
